Abstract
A detailed analysis by Augusta Read Thomas of 30 measures of music she composed. How was the composition made? What are its “rules” and “guiding principles?” How were the notes selected, the rhythm organized? How does the composition balance: affect and effect, intuition and intellect, nuance and spontaneity, lightness and richness? What do the articulations and dynamic mean? What is the form of the composition?
